Support for child funeral costs (Children's Funeral Fund for England)
About the Children's Funeral Fund for England (CFF)
With the loss of a baby or child, families often become overwhelmed and exhausted. Some parents or carers may not have organised or even attended a funeral before.
At BCP Bereavement Care we can support you through the process, whether you choose a cremation service or burial for your little one.
This includes assisting you with choosing your Funeral Director, guidance on financial support, the grief journey and aftercare and commemorative memorials within our dedicated Gardens of Rest for our children.
At BCP Bereavement Care we do not charge you for the cremation or burial of your little one, rather we claim the monies back from the Government.
The Child Funeral Fund for England (CFF) can help to pay for some of the costs of a funeral for a child under 18, a stillborn baby and babies over 24 weeks gestation.
It is not means-tested: what you earn or how much you have in savings will not affect what you get.
The Child Funeral Charity (CFC) offers financial support for families, outlining details on what they can offer and explaining what help families can access through the Government’s Children’s Funeral Fund.
You do not need to process the claims for the funeral funds yourself as the crematorium, cemetery or Funeral Director will do this on your behalf.
Fees that we can claim on your behalf include; burial fee, cremation fees, including the cost of a doctor’s certificate and coffin, shroud or casket.
All CFF claims must be made within 6 months of the funeral.
Sadly, in some cases where the CFF cannot help with the costs, you can seek support from local charities listed on our useful links pages.
